Anaerobic Conditioning: Training the Three Energy Systems

A current topic in exercise science is how to achieve optimal performance in a variety of sports by learning how to train the body's different systems. Every athlete should be conditioning themselves for the specific needs of their sport in order to achieve optimal performance. This article discusses the three bioenergetic systems - the adenosine triphosphate Creatine phosphate system, the glycolytic system, and the oxidative system - and the ways to properly train them to achieve optimal performance.

It's important to remember that every time we "train" we are really training at the cellular level including our DNA (epigenetics) and energy systems (bioenergetics).  The visible adaptations are just the benefits of changes at the cellular level. 06-20-2014 10:10am

Well that's because the people who understand the science are rarely practitioners and vice versa!  So having individuals who really understand both sides of the coin, are ideal!   It's important for practitioners to understand the science and for the science to understand some applicability! 06-27-2014 7:07am
