Proper maternal nutrition during pregnancy is quite essential for the health of both the woman and the offspring. This article summarizes the nutritional needs of a pregnant or lactating women. The food and Nutrition board (FNB) of the Institute of medicine established a life-stage specific dietary reference intake for each micronutrient that is shown on the table listed in the article. Note that these reference values are to be suggested uses to plan and assess dietary intakes in healthy people. 12-10-2014 8:20pm
