Go nuts! A handful a day may help you live longer, docs say - NBC News.com

An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but if you want to live longer, a handful of nuts may be a better bet, researchers reported Wednesday.The biggest study yet into whether nuts can add years to your life shows that people who ate nuts every day were 20 percent less likely to die from heart disease, cancer or any other cause over 30 years than people who didn't eat them.

Some of the results of the study in this article show that eating at least 1.5oz of mixed nuts a day may help prevent heart disease. Heart disease runs in my family and if a little added boost can be obtained from eating a healthy snack that is a good source of protein, fat, vitamins and minerals then why not eat them. Ironically, I already keep a can of nuts, mostly almonds in my desk at work. So, go nuts! 07-25-2015 9:21pm
