Environmental Influence on Addiction

This article talks about studies done with rats and how when given a rich environment with other rats, they weren't interested in a drugged water bottle and went for the normal water. When given a barren environment with the two water bottles, the rats chose the drugged water bottle. Even more surprising, after the rats from the barren environment were put into the rich environment, they switched to the normal water bottle despite some symptoms of withdrawal. This shows environment, especially the social environment, has a huge impact on rats, and likely people.
