Addiction

Addiction is a condition that results when a person ingests a substance (e.g., alcohol, cocaine, nicotine) or engages in an activity (e.g., gambling, sex, shopping) that can be pleasurable but the continued use/act of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities, such as work, relationships, or health.

This article takes the same stance as the TedTalk video. It states that addictive behavior is psychological rather than physical, and it is the result of a stressful environment. 03-10-2016 11:23pm

I feel like everyone has battled some sort of addiction in their lives. Addiction is not an easy thing to overcome especially when you feel you have no reason to. Addiction is not an easy thing to overcome especially when you feel you have no reason to. With things like alcohol or nicotine, we don't seem to care for the effects it has on our body because it only affects us in the future but is something that brings immediate satisfaction. 05-05-2016 7:07am
