Neonatal Planatr Reflex

This article elaborates on the Plantar Reflex in infants, these reflexes emerge before birth and are fully prevalent at birth. This reflex is much like the palmar reflex where it is the stroking of the babies hand, but in this case you stroke the babies foot to see how the foot reacts(toe curling). The article explains the importance of this reflex and how it affects the balance and walking of the child's life later on. Plantar reflex in older adults too can have an effect on lower back pain and ingrown toe nails.

Comments

This article is related to class because we discussed the different types of reflexes an infant has. Piper was a great demonstration, but she was too young to demonstrate this plantar reflex. 02-16-2016 7:19pm
