Wellness- Recover your muscles with foam rolling and stretching

I have used foam rollers in the past, but honestly I just thought it felt good on a tight muscle! It wasn’t until recently that I realized what actually happens when muscles are rolled out. This article does a nice job of breaking it down and explaining how foam rolling increases blood flow to the tight muscle, reduces inflammation, and allows for myofascial release, while also explaining the benefits to pairing it with stretching.  It also discusses some good points regarding understanding your body and “why” muscles might be tight. Sometimes a tightness in one muscle could be the result of poor mobility or weakness in another muscle. 02-25-2016 8:08am
