Locomotor Development

This article connects to our in class lectures in many ways, it talk about early childhood locomotor skills such as crawling, creeping and rolling. One of the first major skills babies will learn is to walk. This maximizes stability and balance over mobility and is one of the first steps of showing their independence. Some rate controllers are strength (to support body on one leg) and balance.

I was fascinated to find in the reading that their at 25 different types of crawls and creeps documented in literature! This article gives an in depth description of childhood locomotor skill development, beginning from the womb. 10-08-2016 9:21pm
