Actual Age vs. Biological Age

I found what we learned about in week three chapter 15 very interesting regarding the physiological age of a person. I never realized that this was a concept before taking this course and decided to look more into it. In this article that I found it discusses the various factors at hand that impact a persons physiological or "actual age" which include exercise habits, stress levels, eating habits, alcohol intake, sleep and sex levels and what I found most surprising was that education level. There are many different factors that can affect the rate that you're body deteriorates, maintaining adequate health and wellness is important in achieving all around longer life expectancy and quality.

When we went over this in class I thought about the Wii Fit game where you have to do certain tests to figure out your "actual" age before starting the program and how it would be closer to someones age if they were fit and healthy and how it would be very far from their biological age when they were unhealthy. I think this is a good way to show people who are unhealthy that at 25 years old your body can feel like you're 40 because of your diet and lack of exercise. 01-09-2017 8:08am
