Is Sports Psychology The Missing Ingredient Or Is There More?

Coaches, parents and athletes around the world, are really coming around to the idea of the importance of mental training in sports. Learning basic sports psychology tools and hiring sports psychologists to work with teams, is getting more and more popular among coaches and schools.

There are some commonly taught sports psychology techniques that help improve athletes' mental toughness and confidence. They include things like goal setting, visualization, positive self-talk and developing performance routines.

Sports Psychology I believe is really important.  It use to be something that was only done in solo sports like golf.  But I think more and more team sports have started implementing it into their training... more »Sports Psychology I believe is really important.  It use to be something that was only done in solo sports like golf.  But I think more and more team sports have started implementing it into their training programs.  Our baseball coach in High School use to make us play out the game in our heads and think about different situations so we would be prepared for anything.  I think more and more the game is played more in your head than on the field.  Yogi Berra had a good quote "Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical." 04-26-2017 6:18pm
