Epigenetics, What are they?

What is Epigenetics? Epigenetics is the study of heritable changes in gene expression (active versus inactive genes) that does not involve changes to the underlying DNA sequence - a change in phenotype without a change in genotype - which in turn affects how cells read the genes.

One example that was given talks about how women that were exposed to famine while pregnant, their children had an increased risk of schizophrenia. Epigenetics are a fairly recent discovery and there is more and more being researched as time goes on. 10-13-2017 9:09am
