How timing of puberty affects adolescents and young teens

This article produced by the Healthwise Staff of the University of Michigan Medicine compares early maturers, of both sexes, to late maturers, also of both sexes. They list the advantages and disadvantages for both early maturers and late maturers. For example, an advantage for an early developing male would be that they often perform well in sports, but a disadvantage is that they may feel pressured to grow up too soon and to take on duties that they may not be ready for.

I believe it pertains to what we had discussed in class because it is about "early maturers" and "late maturers" of both genders. I also found it interesting that it listed both pros and cons and gave reasoning behind their answers. After looking at the article, a question that came into mind is, should we expect "early maturers" to perform better than their peers who are not "early maturers"? 01-24-2018 9:21pm
