Militarily-relevant physical assessments are critical not only to ensure all subjects meet military standards but also to ensure they can achieve Optimal Performance.  Measuring OP in the military could be controversial as they are... more »Militarily-relevant physical assessments are critical not only to ensure all subjects meet military standards but also to ensure they can achieve Optimal Performance.  Measuring OP in the military could be controversial as they are biases coming from different points of this large community.  Body Mass can produce one of these issues as OP for military operations requires efficacy on aspects of endurance, strength, mobility and military relevant tasks.  BM does play a significant role but is it in fact well a manage when measuring OP?  Females and males have different body types and they can well achieve military OP with certain physical attributes that are not necessarily in balance with correct measurement standards.  The army have developed a system, Military Optimal Performance Challenge (MOPC), that proved to be impartial of some of the traditional model conflictive issues and offers a robust approach to military readiness, by truly assessing functional performance skills demanding high work capacities. This is an important development as the true requirements of Military personal needs to move from simple pass or failed evaluation and more into true strength, mobility and overall physical functional capacity as it related to hard and complex physical activities.  Just passing simple outdated cardiovascular and strength assessment evaluation cannot determine how a person will sustain Optimal Performance. 02-24-2018 5:05am
