Childhood Trauma, the Neurobiology of Adaptation..

This article is important because it discusses how childhood trauma can create many issues psychologically, physically, emotionally, etc. and these problems can carry into adulthood. It describes how lots of distress and hyperarousal can lead to neurological impairments that will effect the child later on in life. These emotions can turn into a "trait" of the person, even if it was just an experience. Children are the most vulnerable to experiencing traumatic events because they are not fully developed to be able to handle the trauma.

I like how this article goes into detail about how distress early can make long lasting impacts in the lives of children. If not acted upon early, these traumatic events can causes a variety of problems intrinsic and extrinsic. It directly relates to our topic of ACES in class. 11-01-2019 8:20pm
